Anthropic took Code Review out of research preview on 15 October 2026. The service reviews GitHub pull requests with several Claude agents and posts inline findings. It is available on Claude Team and Enterprise plans and is billed on token usage through usage credits. Anthropic says most reviews now finish in 6 to 10 minutes, about three times faster than in preview. Eligible Enterprise organisations can claim at least $10,000 in credits by 15 January 2027.

What Anthropic announced

Anthropic announced on 15 October 2026 that Code Review is now generally available. The service is part of Claude Code and left the research preview that started on 9 March 2026. It is open to Claude Team and Enterprise organisations. Admins turn it on in the Claude Code admin settings, install the GitHub App and pick repositories. After that, reviews run automatically on new pull requests.

According to the Code Review documentation, several agents read each change alongside the surrounding code and look for logic errors, security vulnerabilities and broken edge cases. A verification step checks findings against the code before they are posted. Results arrive as inline comments ranked by severity, with a summary and a check run. A review never approves or blocks a pull request, so the merge decision stays with the team.

What changed since the preview

Anthropic lists three changes for general availability. On speed, it says most reviews now finish about three times faster, at 6 to 10 minutes compared with around 20 minutes during the preview. On quality, it says findings are shorter and state the problem, what triggers it and the fix in a few sentences. On flexibility, admins can choose Quick, Standard or Deep for each repository, so routine codebases get a light pass and critical ones a deeper review. Standard is the default.

Anthropic says it runs Code Review on pull requests inside the company. The speed and quality figures are Anthropic's own and were not independently tested in the announcement.

How much Code Review costs

The costs page says Code Review has no flat per-review price. It is billed on token usage through usage credits, separately from the plan's included usage, and charged to the organisation rather than to the developer. Cost per review grows with the review level, the size of the change and how many candidate issues need checking. The number of reviews depends on whether a repository reviews once after a pull request opens, after every push, or only on an @claude review comment. A new repository starts at after every push, which runs the most reviews.

Admins can set a monthly spend limit for the service, and reviews are skipped when that limit, the organisation limit or the credit balance runs out. Eligible Enterprise organisations can claim at least $10,000 in Code Review credits by 15 January 2027, and credits expire 30 days after they are claimed. Code Review is not available to organisations with Zero Data Retention or the HIPAA configuration. On other plans, the /code-review command in a Claude Code session offers a local review. Other coding tool updates, such as Codex Composer predictions, are under AI Tools.

What to watch next

Anthropic has not published an average cost per review, so teams have to run a pilot to estimate spend, as the documentation suggests. Support for code hosts other than GitHub is not stated in the announcement.
