What Legora announced

Legora said on 21 October 2026 that it had raised a $550 million Series E at an $8.8 billion post-money valuation. The company describes itself as the agentic operating system for legal professionals. The new valuation compares with $5.6 billion at its previous round. The release does not give the date or size of that earlier round.

Legora says it went from $1 million to $100 million in ARR in less than 18 months, and the next $100 million took less than six months. ARR now stands at more than $200 million. Founded in 2023, the company launched its platform in October 2024. It now has more than 1,000 employees across 18 offices and more than 140,000 users at more than 2,400 law firms and in-house legal teams in over 80 markets.

Who invested

Atreides Management led the round. New investors include Baron Capital, Capital Group, Fidelity Management & Research Company, Glade Brook Capital Partners and J.P. Morgan. Legora says every major existing investor is also participating, naming Accel, Benchmark, Bessemer Venture Partners, General Catalyst, ICONIQ, Insight Venture Partners, Menlo Ventures, Redpoint Ventures, Salesforce Ventures and Sands Capital.

"Legal is a sophisticated market with demanding buyers, and the bar for software is high," said Gavin Baker, Managing Partner and CIO at Atreides. CEO and co-founder Max Junestrand said the company chose investors who share its long-term view. CFO David Eckstein said Legora wants healthy gross margins, high retention and a cost structure that improves with scale.

Where the money goes

Legora says the capital will fund expansion in North America, where it has offices in New York, Denver, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco, Toronto and Mexico City, and in its European and Asia-Pacific markets. It will also fund the Legora aOS, with new products for agentic intake, horizon scanning and legal research. The United States is now Legora's largest market by revenue, and more than half of the AmLaw 50 are customers. In-house legal teams made up more than 40% of new customers in the third quarter.

What changed and what to watch

The round adds about 57% to Legora's valuation since its previous raise, based on the two figures the company gives. Earlier in October, Hogan Lovells Cadwalader signed both Harvey and Legora, as covered in the Hogan Lovells Cadwalader story. The release does not report profitability or gross margin figures, so the CFO comments on margins and retention cannot yet be checked against numbers. The round is listed on the AI funding tracker, with other rounds under AI Business & Funding.
