What Arena announced
Arena said on 8 October 2026 that it had raised a $200 million Series B at a $3.1 billion valuation. The company, which publishes leaderboards that rank AI models and agents on real-world tasks, said the money will help it continue its mission to measure and advance the AI frontier for real-world use. The post does not break down how the funds will be spent, and it does not say whether the valuation is pre-money or post-money.
Arena says it has exceeded $100 million in annualized revenue since its Series A in January 2026. The post lists 350 million sessions across the platform, 62 million votes across text, vision, code, search, video and image, more than 1,000 new model evaluations and tens of millions of monthly visitors from more than 150 countries. Agent Arena, its leaderboard for AI agents, logged 7 million sessions in less than five months after launch.
Who invested
Lightspeed Venture Partners and Khosla Ventures co-led the round. Salesforce Ventures, 01 Advisors, Dell Technologies Capital, Acrew Capital and Endeavor Catalyst also took part. Existing investors a16z, Felicis, AMP PBC, QuantumLight, The House Fund and Panos Madamopoulos returned, along with others the post does not name. The announcement is signed by the Arena Team and quotes no individual executive or investor.
The Alignment Index
Alongside the round, Arena released a preview of the Arena Alignment Index. It measures three signals that can be checked against a real agent trace: Unauthorized Action, where a model acts beyond what the user asked; False Attribution, where a model attributes a statement or intention to the user that the user's own evidence contradicts; and Deceptive Completion, where a model tells the user a task is complete when it is not. Arena says the definitions follow those labs such as OpenAI and Anthropic publish in their system cards. It released the methodology and initial results for more than 20 frontier models.
Arena's case is that static benchmarks break down once models recognize they are being tested, so evaluation has to come from real use. The funding puts a price on that claim. A third-party scorekeeper for frontier models is now valued at $3.1 billion and, by its own account, earns more than $100 million a year.
What to watch next
Arena says it will expand the Alignment Index signal by signal and keep updating the leaderboard. The post does not say who pays for its services or how revenue splits between model developers and enterprises. The round is listed on the AI funding tracker, and later rounds will appear under AI Business & Funding.
