What Automation Anywhere announced
Automation Anywhere announced general availability of its agentic Procure-to-Pay solution on 9 September 2026. It is the newest part of Autonomous Finance, the company's suite of AI solutions for the office of the CFO.
The solution coordinates the procurement lifecycle from vendor onboarding through requisition, purchase orders, goods receipt, invoice processing and payment status tracking. It works as a layer over existing procurement, ERP, finance and supplier systems rather than replacing them. When an exception occurs, a built-in AI assistant identifies the issue, surfaces context and recommends actions. The company says the solution is configurable, adapts to existing processes and can be deployed in weeks.
Automation Anywhere says the product is built on the same invoice-processing engine as its Accounts Payable offering, which it says has helped customers reach up to 90% straight-through processing, meaning invoices that move without human intervention. It also says the solution uses the agentic architecture it announced with OpenAI in January, combining OpenAI reasoning models with its own orchestration and governed execution.
What changed for finance and procurement teams
Before this release, Autonomous Finance covered accounts payable and other finance tasks, but not the full purchasing cycle. Customers can now start with accounts payable and extend the same automation to requisitions, purchase orders and goods receipt. The company presents this as a path to broader automation without a large upfront transformation.
Chief financial officer Vikram Khosla is quoted describing every exception that needs human investigation as a strategic tax on the business. Dustin Snell, senior vice president of agentic solutions, calls the release the first part of the vision announced with OpenAI earlier in 2026. The release names finance customers including Australia Post, Cargill, KeyBank and the UK National Health Service, but does not say whether any of them use the new Procure-to-Pay product.
Why it matters
Procure-to-pay is one of the oldest targets for robotic process automation because it spans many systems and produces frequent mismatches between orders, receipts and invoices. The shift described here is from scripted bots to agents that investigate exceptions and recommend fixes. The 90% figure refers to the existing accounts payable product and is a ceiling, not an average. Related coverage of enterprise platforms is collected under AI Automation.
What to watch next
The release gives no pricing, no customer results for Procure-to-Pay itself and no list of supported ERP systems. The first named customer deployments and any measured exception rates would show how far the product moves beyond the accounts payable results. In its company description, Automation Anywhere says it has more than 4,000 customers in over 90 countries, so the size of the installed base that could adopt the product is large.
